Our Story!
Martyn and John founded MJ Engineering Limited in 1989. From a small workshop equipped with second-hand machinery, the company has grown into a state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility featuring the latest CNC technology. Throughout its journey, MJ Engineering Limited has remained driven by innovation and guided by strong family values.
From humble beginnings, we’ve grown into a trusted supplier to industries including motorsport, aerospace, medical, oil & gas, and scientific research. Our purpose-built facility in Market Harborough is equipped with advanced CNC turning, milling, multi-axis machining, and wire erosion capabilities — all supported by in-house inspection, assembly, and part marking.
While technology and capacity have evolved, our values remain the same. We’re still proudly family-run, with a hands-on team that’s committed to craftsmanship, reliability, and long-term relationships. Our ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certifications reflect a deep commitment to quality and environmental responsibility, while our continued investment in equipment, software, and skills ensures we remain at the cutting edge of precision manufacturing.
At MJ Engineering Limited, we’re proud of where we’ve come from — and excited about where we’re going.
The story of MJ Engineering Limited began when Martyn opted for machinery instead of a redundancy payout to start a new business. With a one-year guarantee of work from his former employer, the company set out on its journey with determination and a focus on building a sustainable future.
In response to the growing demand during their first year in business, Martyn and John invested in their first new CNC machine, marking an important milestone in MJ Engineering Limited’s development.
John retired from the business, leaving Martyn to continue leading MJ Engineering Limited forward. Over the following years, the company made significant investments in modern CNC machinery, steadily replacing the original equipment and strengthening its capabilities.

Following Martyn’s retirement, MJ Engineering Limited entered a new era. The company relocated to a purpose-built facility, marking a significant step forward, with David taking over as Managing Director to lead the business into its next chapter.
MJ Engineering Limited has continued to invest in the latest CNC machinery, replacing older equipment and expanding capacity with additional machinery to meet the growing demands of its customers.

To optimise space and support further investment, a mezzanine floor was added to the facility. This created additional room on the ground floor for new CNC machinery, while the remaining manual machines were relocated upstairs.
MJ Engineering Limited proudly celebrated 30 years in business with the launch of its own brand of MJ En’GIN’eering gin, specially distilled by Two Birds in the company’s original factory — a unique way to honour its roots and history.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, MJ Engineering Limited played a vital role in supporting ventilator production, running four machines 24/7 for eight consecutive weeks. At the same time, we continued to work and supply essential components for safety relief valves and oxygen tanks, ensuring uninterrupted support for critical industries when reliability mattered most.
MJ Engineering Limited continued its expansion with the delivery and commissioning of three additional CNC machines, alongside the installation of two new overhead cranes, further enhancing production capacity and operational efficiency.
From humble beginnings to cutting- edge precision engineering, MJ Engineering continues to innovate while staying true to the family values that have guided us since 1989. Every milestone represents our commitment to quality, reliability, and the people who make it all possible
